April Rae Bishop (Dotson), a devoted mother, daughter, and sister from Tacoma, WA, passed away in Tacoma, WA on February 13, 2026, after facing health challenges.
Early Life and Education
Born in Eugene, Oregon in 1963, April was the daughter of Ervin Clark Dotson and Roberta Ann Wegand Dotson. She spent her childhood and youth attending Packwood Elementary and White Pass Middle-High School, ultimately graduating from Mossyrock High School in 1981.
Military Service
April served her country with pride by joining the United States Air Force. She held the rank of Staff Sergeant in the 12270-Air Crew Life Support for eight years. Her assignment was with the 62nd Military Airlift Wing (MAC) at McChord Air Force Base in Washington. During her military career, she received several honors, including the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon.
Family
April is survived by her son, Cory Jo Bishop; her father, Ervin Clark Dotson; and her sisters, Marlena Dotson, Rachel Bell, and Jill Snodgrass. She is also remembered by her brothers-in-law, Randy Bell and Thomas Snodgrass, as well as several nieces and nephews. April was preceded in death by her mother, Roberta Ann Dotson.
Personal Life and Interests
April dedicated her life to serving both her country and those around her. She was known for her kindness and loving nature. April enjoyed cooking and cherished family dinners. She loved visiting the ocean and was always happy to share a pizza with loved ones.
Remembrance
The family will hold a gathering to celebrate April’s life on July 11th from 12-3pm at 350 Davis Creek, Randle, WA.
April’s final resting place will be at Tahoma National Cemetery in Covington, Washington.
