Obituary

Barnard Palmore departed this life on July 10, 2026, in Tacoma, WA. He was born on May 3, 1954, to the late Early and Beatrice Williams Palmore. He attended Greenwood High School, where he graduated class of 1972. After high school, Barnard joined the United States Army, which relocated him to Tacoma, WA.

After serving as a medical assistant in the military, Barnard dedicated his career to serving others through his work. He held management positions at Naval Submarine Base Bangor, as well as Microsoft, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, leadership, and commitment to excellence. For the last seven years of his career, Barnard worked in Environmental Control at Fred Meyer, where he continued to build lasting friendships and earned the respect of his colleagues.

Barnard was affectionately known as Nard, Dad, PaPa, Pops, Bro, Unc, Daddy-Uncle-Uncle- Daddy, Mr.B, and Babe. No matter what you called him, he answered each name with love, warmth, and a heart that made everyone feel like family.

He loved spending time with his family and friends, and every other year he looked forward to coming home to Greenwood, where some of his happiest moments were spent around the family table. He loved when his sisters would whip up a good meal. He never turned down Niecy's famous hot dog chili or lemon pound cake, and Gwen's macaroni and cheese always held a special place in his stomach. Truth be told, Barnard was a sucker for a good Sunday dinner. If there was good food, good company, and plenty of laughter around the table, you could count on him being there with a full plate, a smile on his face, and probably asking for seconds.

While Barnard found joy in many things throughout his life, nothing brought him greater happiness than being a father to his beloved son, Antjuan. He loved his son unconditionally, and the bond they shared was unbreakable.Barnard was a father figure to many, opening his home and his heart to Antjuan’s friends, who always knew they were welcomed at “Mr. B’s” house. THey would often shoot the breeze about sports, which was his favorite pastime. He was a devoted Seattle Seahawks fan, and proudly cheered on his team through every season.

He was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. Barnard always had a subtle joke, and once you caught on, he would laugh right along with you. His joy was contagious, and he was always a pleasure to be around. But don’t get it twisted—if you needed to be set straight, Barnard wouldn’t hesitate to let you know about yourself. He spoke honestly, always from a place of love and sincerity. One thing about him, he would never let you leave without saying I love you.

He was preceded in death by his brother: Joe Morris Palmore, his nephew: Michael R. Brunson, Jr.; and His sister: Gwendolyn (Michael) Brunson.

Bernard’s loving memories will forever live on through his loving son: Bernard Antjuan Palmore; his grandson: Antjuan Jr. (AJ); his siblings: Lillian Denise Palmore Starks, Barry (Michelle) Palmore, and Stanley (Jacqueline) Williams; his fiance: Kenwetta McCord; her children: Maurice, Reanasha, Lakeisha, & Devon; the grandbabies: Lavontre, Samiya, Kelina, Charles Jr., Josiah, and Raelynn; his goddaughters: Monique and Bridget; his nephew: Morano C. Carter, who was like a son.

He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. Barnard will be deeply missed, never forgotten, and forever held in the hearts of all who loved him.
