 Forever 32

With heavy hearts, we announced the passing of our beloved Corey, who left this world far too soon at the vibrant age of 32. He was a remarkable son, brother, family member, and friend whose presence brought light and laughter wherever he went.

Corey was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington by his parents Gregory Young and Dora Swain-Young. He was the last son having five brothers, one sister before him and two sisters after him. He had a heart full of kindness, a contagious sense of humor, and a gift for making everyone around him feel welcome and loved. Whether he was telling a joke, sharing a smile, or simply being himself, Corey had a way of lifting people's spirits.

Throughout his childhood and teenage years, Corey became a talented musician. He found joy and peace through music. He played both the violin and the cello with passion and grace, using his talent to express emotions that words often could not. Music was one of the many ways he connected with the world and left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to hear him play.

Once Corey graduated from high school, he ventured out as a young adult residing in other cities outside of Tacoma and ended up living in Los Angeles, California.

Corey embraced who he was with courage and authenticity as a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. He lived with compassion, strength, and love, inspiring others to do the same. As a Black man, he carried his identity with pride and left behind a legacy of resilience, acceptance, and hope.

Corey is preceded in death by his grandmother Zetta, his mother Dora and his brother Jeremy. He leaves to cherish his wonderful presence his Grandmother Mama Doll, his father Gregory (Sr.), his brothers Gregory (Jr.), Bobby, Anthony, and Jamie, his sisters Christina, Connie and Ericka, his partner Alex, his Godchildren Edward, Jeremiah, Paris, Nevaeh and Ricky, and a host of aunties, cousins, nephews, nieces and other special family and friends.

Though his life was unexpectedly short, Corey filled his 32 years with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.

While our hearts ache with his absence, we find comfort in remembering the joy he brought into our lives and the beautiful memories that will remain with us forever.

Corey's love, laughter, music, and gentle spirit will never be forgotten. Though he is no longer with us in person, his Spirit remains close to us as his melody continues to play in our hearts every day.

Rest peacefully, Corey. You are deeply loved, and you will be forever missed.
