Diane Alston Turner was born December 13, 1947, in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from Omaha South High School in 1966 and enrolled at Southern Illinois University where she joined the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. She graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1971 with a degree in Speech and Communications. Diane returned to Omaha after graduating and met Harold Turner, Jr., an Air Force Veteran who was attending the University of Nebraska-Omaha. After a short courtship the two married in January 1972 and re-located to Richmond, VA. Diane made use of her degree and took a position with the local NBC affiliate. In 1975 they welcomed their first Son Harold Turner, III and in 1976 their second Son Courtney Alston Turner.

In 1980 the Turner family moved to Seattle and Diane took a position with the Seattle Public Library. In 1981 the Turner's bought a house in Federal Way and Diane immediately got involved in the community.  In 1998 the Turner family expanded, and they were blessed with the addition of Philip Wiseman, Jr.

Diane had two great passions in life. Gardening and being a mentor and advocate for children. She was Chief Communications Officer for the Federal Way School District until her retirement in 2013.

She is survived by her Husband Harold Turner, Jr. Sons Harold (Miki) Turner, III, Courtney Alston Turner, Philip Wiseman, Jr. Daughter-in-Law Esther Turner. The Turner family would like to thank Continuum Hospice for their support during Diane's final weeks and the outpouring of love, blessings, and compassion from family, friends, former           co-workers, and her Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Sisters during this ordeal.
