Jimmee Alvin Kimbrough
James Alvin Kimbrough better known as Jimmee passed away on July 27, 2026. He was born May 7, 1954, in Tokyo, Japan, where his parents, Edward Sr. and Annie Kimbrough, were stationed.
Jimmee graduated from Washington State University with a degree in engineering, going on to build a career as an architect and later working at Boeing. An entrepreneur at heart, he also founded and owned his own furniture company, where he could put his hands to work building pieces of his own design. Known affectionately as “Mr. Fix It,” (if Papason can’t fix it, we’re “screwed” is what his daughter and granddaughters would always say) he was always working on a big project — his mind and his hands never stopped building, designing, and creating.
A man of high energy, Jimmee had a deep love of music, and in his later years became a beloved virtual Facebook DJ, sharing his favorite old school 70s soul songs with friends, family, and followers. He was always learning and researching things and loved to share those things with his friends and family. He always had a “lesson plan” to share with his daughter and granddaughters. He loved being outdoors, especially being in the garden. Planting trees and tending to plants, is where he found real joy in watching things he’d planted grow. He was known for his infectious laugh, one that could fill a room and put everyone around him at ease.
He loved exploring and living in the heart of Seattle with his partner Christina McKee, but more than anything, Jimmee loved being with his daughter and his granddaughters. He is survived by his daughter, Bria Weir Kimbrough; his granddaughters, Davinee, Aubriella, and Aspen, who knew him lovingly as “Papasan”; and his siblings, Joanne, Edward Jr., Stephanie, and Laura Ann. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Annie Kimbrough, and his younger brother Michael.
