Obituary

Johnny Bumphus transitioned from earth January 31, 2020 in Tacoma, WA. In 1978, he graduated from Pearl High School, Nashville, TN where he met his former wife, Deborah Boyd. In 1980, Johnny earned a spot on the U.S Olympic Boxing Team. He went on to become a professional boxer and was known in the boxing community as "Bump City", winning a World Boxing Championship Title, with an impressive record of 29-2, 20 by knock out. Johnny was preceded in death by his loving parents, and 3 sisters, Joyce Thorn, Linda Belt and Freddie Mae Hicks.
He leaves to cherish his memory his one and only son Johnny Terrell Bumphus and three beautiful grandchildren Janai Terriona Church, Jaidyn Terrell Rucher, and Havona Ariele Randle. Three devoted sisters Rev. Delores A Hayes, Margaret D. Logan, and Yvonne H. Bumphus-Brown. A dear friend, Cheryl Lewis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation services Thursday Feb. 13, 2020 at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Feb 14, 2020 at 11am at Edwards Temple COGIC 1107 S 21st St, Tacoma, WA 98405.
