Obituary Katherine Vasser
Long-time resident Katherine Vasser, peacefully passed from this earthly life to our Lord and Savior's promised eternal peace on October 16, 2021. Born to parents Sam AJ and Nellie Cross in Bastrop, Louisiana in 1937. Married to Morris L. Vasser for 52 years, mother of four beautiful children. Her employment career included time as a Real Estate Sales Agent, Book Keeper, Manager of two different Model Cities programs for low-income residents in Seattle/King County, Director of Senior/Minor Home Repair and she served 20 plus years until her retirement as Deputy Director of Central Area Motivation Program (CAMP) and Low-Income Heating Intervention Programs.
She was a member of various housing industry associations, a member in the congregation of New Light Christian Church under the leadership of the retired Pastor Danner until her health kept her from attending. She served the NAACP as the Freedom Fund Dance Chairman or Co-chairman for 10 plus years through the 1970's and 1980's, she was an ACTSO Parent, and Girl Scout Cookie Mom too many years to count, a member of the GEMS Social Club, the Ladies Sunday Book Club and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. as a Silver and Life member through Delta Upsilon Omega Chapter in Seattle.
Katherine has been proceeded in death by her beloved husband Morris, her son Cottrell, parents Sam and Nellie, and 14 sisters and brothers. She leaves to mourn her a sister, Earline (Robert) Shields, Daughters; Brenda D. Vasser, Bridgett J. Vasser (Fred Jr.) Gray, and Lisa M. Vasser. Grandchildren; Destiny Gray, Doncheree Gray, Morris Gabriel Vasser Campbell, and Great-grand Daughter Elizabeth Sullivan.
Those who loved her include a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews – five generations in all, as well as a plethora of additional folks who are considered extended family.
The Vasser family is concerned for the safety of all family and friends and we are encouraging everyone to celebrate the homegoing of Katherine Vasser via electronic media link rather than attempting to venture out and risk any health exposure to show your support and love for us at this time of loss. Anyone who RSVPs for attendance will be required to provide proof of vaccination & wear a face mask for the entire service. We respectfully ask, even though it will be tempting that you refrain from personal contact including hugging and kissing family members.
