Lanise Nicole Bassett was born on January 23, 1978, to Bobbie Fleming-Cosme and Samuel Brown. She lived in Lacey, Washington, and departed this life on August 23, 2026.

Lanise was a strong and beautiful daughter who was deeply loved. Though her passing brings a pain that words cannot fully express, her mother finds comfort in knowing that God had a plan for her life and that Lanise is no longer suffering. She is now at peace, resting in the presence of the Lord.

Lanise was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mable M. Fleming of Chicago, Illinois; her aunt, Geraldine Fleming; and her uncles, James L. Fleming and Frank Paytes, also of Chicago. Her family finds comfort in knowing that Lanise is now in heaven, reunited with those who went before her. We hold them all close in our hearts until the day when we all meet again.

Lanise graduated from Puyallup High School, an accomplishment that reflected her strength and determination. Despite the challenges she faced because of her disability, she persevered and made it all the way. Her journey was not always easy, but she continued forward with strength.

Lanise leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Bobbie Fleming-Cosme; her adopted father, Leon Bassett; her brothers, Leon Bassett Jr. and Samuel Bassett; her aunt, Floraine Fleming; close cousin Anissa Fleming; her godmother, Denise Bulter; along with other close family members and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Lanise will be remembered with love, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all those whose lives she touched.
