Robert Starks Obituary

Robert L. Starks was born on January 3, 1947, in Uniontown, Alabama, and peacefully departed this life on December 7, 2025, in Longview, Texas. His journey began in the close knit community of Uniontown, where he developed the strength, integrity, and work ethic that carried him throughout his life.

Robert graduated from Robert C. Hatch High School, Class of 1966, and soon after began building a legacy defined by dedication and service. As a skilled welder and machinist in Cleveland, Ohio, he worked with commitment and precision. He later continued his path of service with the Tacoma School District, where he contributed to the daily operations that supported countless students and staff.

Beyond his work, Robert was a man who embraced life with joy and intention. He loved to travel, fish, and golf, and he found some of his greatest happiness in spending time with his grandchildren by entertaining them, teaching them, and creating memories that will live on for generations. His faith was central to his life, and he faithfully served as a deacon at Greater Calvary Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio, and later at New Salem Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington.

Robert is preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Henry Powell Sr.); his father, Adams Starks; his sister, Irene Fikes; his grandmother, Irene Boone; his brothers, Henry Powell Jr., Milton Powell, Columbus Powell, and Jimmy Kemp; his daughter, Veronica Johnson; and his grandsons, Anthony Starks and Reginald Taylor, Jr.

Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Joyce Starks; his sister, Katie Powell; his daughters, Kim (Adam) Starks Wright, Yolanda Taylor, and Annie Chaney; and his son, Phillip Anderson, Sr.; and a host of grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He leaves behind a family strengthened by his wisdom, grounded by his faith, and forever blessed by his love.

Robert lived a life marked by resilience, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. His laughter, his stories, and his steady presence will be deeply missed, yet his legacy remains woven into the hearts of all who knew him.
