ALMEROL

Celebrating the Life of Talanie C. Almerol
October 6th, 1978 - March 6th, 2026
On Friday, March 6th, 2026, Talanie Almerol gained her wings. Talanie Carlotta Almerol, also known as Lanie, Cookie, or Mimima, was born in Seattle, Washington, to her mother, Tia Almerol, and her father, Danelo Almerol, on October 6th, 1978. She grew up in the city of Seattle, attending Mercer Middle School. Talanie lived a lively childhood as both a jokester and a prankster. She liked to goof around and make people laugh. Her mother recounts waking her and her sister, Aurura, up early in the morning to dance before they started their day. She enjoyed riding ponies at the zoo and blowing kisses at the monkeys. She also loved roller skating, often rolling through TLC in Kent. It was there she met Derrick Swan, and she had her first three children: Taladra Swan, Derrick Swan, and Tatyana Swan. She attended and transferred from Renton High School to then graduate from Rainier Beach High School. She later married Momodue Jallow, moved to Rhode Island, and had her fourth and final child, Abbie Jallow.
In early adulthood, she enjoyed raising her children and being a young mother. She loved to braid her children’s and family members’ hair. She also loved '90s/2000s R&B; Mariah Carey was her favorite artist. In her recent years, she enjoyed fashion—changing her outfits two to three times a day—cooking, spending time with friends, and practicing spirituality through Tarot readings. She loved spending time with family, visiting her grandchildren, and spending weekends with her mom. If she wasn’t spending time with them, she was showing photos and telling stories about her children and grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her father, Danelo Almerol. She is survived by her four children: Taladra Swan, Derrick Swan Jr., Tatyana Swan, and Abbie Jallow; two grandchildren, Ta’Layah Swan-Sinclair and Treshaun Sinclair Jr.; her mother, Tia Almerol; her sister, Aurura Almerol-Akers; her nieces, Alexus Akers and Shantya Akers; and her nephew, Thomas Akers Jr. Friends and family describe her as having a very loving heart; she is truly missed. Her family held a private visitation
