Obituary

Willie Earl Ramsey was born in Boyle, Mississippi, on August 27, 1948, to Lewis Clyde Ramsey Sr and Lizzie Mae Ramsey. Willie was the second oldest of 11.

In his youth, Willie had a love for playing basketball and baseball. He attended John F Kennedy High School in Mount Bayou, Mississippi, where he met the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Zeder Hooper.

Willie was drafted by the Army out of high school to serve in the Vietnam War which ended while he was in basic training.

His brother Lewis was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. The family then relocated to Tacoma, Washington in 1968 when Willie started his career with the City of Tacoma in Maintenance. He reconnected with Zeder and moved her here and they were married. Shortly after they had their first and only child, Morocke.

A few years later he started with the State of Washington, Department of Transportation as Maintenance Tech, then moved on to Lead Tech and finished his career on the Incident Response Team and retired after being with the state for a total of 48 years.

Willie was known by all for his big smile, his quick wit and his love for his family, friends, fishing and the San Franscisco 49ers.

Willie most loved being a grandfather and attending his grandson Aiden’s sporting events and was so proud of him attending the University of Washington.

After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Willie Ramsey is preceded in death his wife Zeder Ramsey; father Louis Ramsey; mother Lizzie Ramsey; brothers Louise, Ernest, Charles, and Robert; sisters Emma and Brenda.

He is survived by brothers Clarence, Gary (Cindy); sisters Joyce, Verna (Dean); his son, Morocke; grandsons TJ and Aiden in addition to many nieces and nephews.
